The Prove-It Score is based on the quality and quantity of peer-reviewed evidence for the ingredients in a product. Our reviews examine evidence from the last 20 years and only consider published studies available through Medline. The highest-ranking evidence comes from Systematic Reviews, Meta-analyses, and Randomised Controlled Trials. Any other evidence is considered lower in quality and this is reflected in the Prove-It Score the product receives. You can view the key published evidence in the links provided with each product and by clicking on the Ingredients listed.
We aim to review the evidence for products at least twice a year and update score accordingly. If you feel like new evidence is available that we haven't considered, we'd love to know about. Please contact us
here.
We're a group of medical researchers and writers who have spent the last few decades working in the pharmaceutical and wellness industries. It's been our job to troll through published evidence looking for good ways to use data to sell prescription and non-prescription products. We know all the tricks companies use to make their products sound "clinical" and "proven."
After seeing a tsunami of "menopause" products hit the shelves following Davina McColl's fabulous
documentary, we got sick of sham products claiming to treat the huge range of peri/menopause symptoms women experience. That's when we decided to put our niche skillset to use for patients, not pharma. Our bar is pretty high because we think all women deserve honest evidence, not just marketing messages.
At the moment, no. We might include ads at some point, but for now, the focus is on gathering as much evidence as possible for as many products as possible.
